Day 1 Plzen
Arrival in Plzen, where we move into our hotel Marriot Courtyard****. We enjoy our dinner and our overnight stay.
Day 2 Plzen
After breakfast, we discover Plzen. We visit the Pilsner Urquell brewery to learn more about this famous beer. After lunch we can enjoy a free afternoon, that can be chosen according to your own wish: shopping, a cultural walk, visit to the botanical garden or zoo… Dinner and overnight stay in the hotel.
Day 3 Plzen – Cesky Krumlov - Holasovice – Plzen
After breakfast, we drive to Cesky Krumlov. This city in South-Bohemia is typically known for the old inner city and the castle. The beautiful city center with buildings from 14th-17th Century in gothic, renaissance and baroque styles, has all rights to be on UNESCO’s World Heritage list. After lunch in a local restaurant, we drive further to Holasovice. The village possesses a rich folkloric tradition and history. The typical South-Bohemian village with a big square and a series of 22 attached, bricked farms from the 18th and 19th century. Holasovice is also on UNESCO’s World Heritage list. Return to the hotel an dinner with overnight stay.
Day 4 Plzen – Karlstejn – Nizbor - Plzen
After breakfast the coach takes us to Karlštejn Castle. This is Czech Republic’s most famous and most visited castle. This majestic fortress stands on a hill circa 20km south of Prague. We take lunch with the castle on the background. On the way back we visit the renowned glass factory of Nizbor, where we will be initiated in the production process of crystal glass. Dinner and overnight stay in the hotel.
Day 5 Plzen – Cheb – Marianske Lazne - Plzen
Today we visit Cheb, a city that has a very important historical role. In the Hussite Wars, the catholic Cheb was faced directly to the Hussites. In 1430 the Hussites attacked Cheb, but after the city payed an enormous amount of money, the Hussites decided to leave. On April 25th of 1459 the Convention of Cheb was signed which determined the borders between Bohemia and Saxony. Around midday we continue to Marianske Lazne for lunch. Marianske Lazne was a spa resort in the 19th century. We walk through this wonderful resort and its colonnades where we can taste the thermal water. Dinner and overnight stay in our hotel in Plzen.
Day 6 Plzen – Prague – Plzen
After breakfast we head into the direction of Prague: The City of 100 Spires, seen as one of the most beautiful cities of Europe. We move on to the Strahov Monastery and visit its famous library. We walk through the Cernin and the Archbishop’s palace and continue to the fortress district where we enjoy our lunch. After that, we visit the St. Vitus Cathedral and the Golden Lane. We return to Plzen for our dinner and overnight stay.
Day 7 Plzen – Loket - Karlovy Vary – Plzen
After breakfast, we visit Loket. This historical town is beautifully situated, in a bend of the river Ohre. It is dominated by its 12th century castle where Emperor Charles IV came to rest and hunt in the area. Further on to Karlovy Vary, one of the most beautiful spa resorts in Europe. The historical city center is situated near the estuary of the river Teplá. The historical city center of Karlovy Vary is mainly from the 19th century and it still reflects its former glory. The center is traffic free and the promenade of the city runs alongside the Teplá. We get some free time in this sophisticated spa town to discover it on our own. Back to the hotel for our dinner and overnight stay.
Day 8 Plzen – final destination
After an early breakfast, we leave Bohemia. End of our services.
